UPDATE ON TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR!
This year we are changing to a 4-person golf scramble. (Last year we did a shamble). With the Scramble, each team will play the best ball on each shot. To balance the teams, each team has been given a handicap rating to allow for teams with higher handicaps to be competitive the day of the tournament.
Here are the basic rules of a Scramble, often called best ball tournament:
1. Team Composition and Tee-Off:
o Each team consists of four players
o All four players tee off on each hole.
2. Shot Selection and Play:
o After all tee shots, the team decides which shot they like the best.
o The chosen spot is marked.
o All players play their second shots from that marked spot.
o This process continues until the ball is holed out.
****** MUST USE 3 DRIVES FROM EACH PLAYER *******
3. Scoring:
o Only one ball counts per hole. (This is a change from last year)
o The team records its score and moves to the next hole.
o Each team has the following (A-Player, B-Player, C-Player, and D-Player). This team is assigned a handicap based on the estimated handicap for each player
4. Tiebreakers:
o In case of a tie, The Woodsmen Tournament Board will randomly select a hole to determine a winner. This process will continue until a winner is determined.
5. Optional Rules and Mulligans:
§ Players can purchase 1 Mulligan per player for $20. All dollars collected for the Mulligan will be donated to a local charity.
§ A player may use a mulligan for any shot; except, they are not eligible on contest holes (i.e. longest drive, closest to the pin, or hole-in-one contests)
§ Only the golfer’s original first shot is eligible for a prize on holes offering a contest, listed below
§ The one-club length rule may not be used to move a drive onto the fairway for the purposes of eligibility for the longest-drive contests
Please fix ball marks and repair divots and most importantly, and remember, teamwork is key to a successful 4-man scramble! Enjoy your game on the greens! 🏌️♂️⛳
